Services
Croft Electric Ltd is a small local business based in Birch Hill, Bracknell, Berkshire and provides electrical installation and testing services to residential customers and small businesses in and around the area.
The business is owned and run by Steve Davies, who has worked in the electrical and telecoms industries for some 35 years.
Early in 2012, Steve decided to set up on his own and start his own company, which is now in its third year of successful trading.
Installations are completed to the latest wiring regulations, and certificates issued where applicable, while avoiding any unnecessary expense for work that really is not needed.
Croft Electric Ltd provides a wide range of electrical services for residential property, from extra sockets and lighting, right through to a complete re-wire.
All domestic work is Part P certified, which means is it carried out to the latest building regulations (Part P covers electrical safety in dwellings), and all work is professionally tested according to the latest wiring regulations.
A few example prices are included, but please note that these are just sample prices, and are subject to the amount of work involved.
Periodic inspection and testing is necessary because all electrical installations deteriorate over time, due to factors such as damage, ageing, corrosion, electrical overloading, etc.
The purpose of inspection and testing is to provide a view as to whether the installation is in a satisfactory condition such that it can continue to be used safely.
For a residential property, the inspection typically involves inspecting the incoming supply, the earthing/bonding arrangements, the consumer unit, and the circuits to socket outlets, lights and switches, and other electrical equipment.
Modern domestic wiring typically uses what is called "twin and earth" for most applications - sheathed line and neutral wires, plus a bare earth wire, all enclosed in an outer PVC sheath (which is usually grey or white).
The line (brown or red) and neutral (blue or black) cables should not normally be visible outside of fittings such as switches or sockets (they should be protected by the outer sheath), and the bare copper line and neutral conductors inside these cables should never be exposed or accessible.
