From small beginnings in 1979 as sole trading electricians in Southend, Essex, over the years, Blake Contractors Ltd has expanded to incorporate a separate property maintenance / general building works department and alarm and security division (see sister site Blake Fire & Security Systems) alongside the original Blake Electrical contractors. Blake Contractors is a one stop shop for building and electrical work.
We are able to handle (almost) anything from small repairs to complete refurbishments, both internally and externally and for domestic or commercial properties. No ordinary contractors, we're a family-run business who are big enough to cope, but small enough to care. We have exceptional, professional staff, resources and project management PLUS service with a personal touch.

I served a four year indentured apprenticeship and I am a JIB Approved electrician, with 40 years' experience in industrial, commercial and domestic installations, ranging from oil refineries to churches and shopping centres to fashion houses.
I spent over 10 years self-employed either sub contracting or running and pricing my own works.
I am in charge of 9 electricians and apprentices I run day to day as well as project manage all electrical installations / testing jobs.
I am one of 3 NICEIC qualifying supervisors responsible for the quality of installations and testing and am qualified to BS7671 2008 amendment 3; 2015 as well as BAFE qualified.

I love my job because, whilst a tradesman will be present during sections of jobs, I'm the only person who gets to be there from day 1 till the very end and beyond for the client and meet their needs.
It's very rewarding to see a project from start to finish stage by stage and the hard work that goes into these transformations.
