Formed as a partnership between Donald & Mark Barthorpe, D & M Barthorpe began the business of electrical contracting in Boston in 1967. At that time two significant market opportunities were just opening. The first was brought about by the fact that the electrical systems within many of the houses in and around Boston were coming to the end of their useful life, being made from copper and insulated rubber.
Rewiring incorporating PVC cable was taking off. Secondly the ever expanding range of new domestic electrical appliances for the home created a further opportunity in the installation of additional socket outlets. While these two work streams became ever more popular, commercial & farming installations were also an area to which D & M Barthorpe applied themselves, gaining a good reputation in the installation of electrical systems within crop drying buildings.
In a very short time the newly established company required its own base & office and this became the Oxford Street premises from which it still operates today.
