In 1976 Antony Cookson left school to begin work as an apprentice electrician at MIC Installations on Lenton Boulevard, Nottingham.
He attended Peoples College on Maid Marion Way to complete a four year electrical engineering course.
After two years at MIC Installations, Antony moved to Lumelec, where he worked in Bakers Oven and Pork Farms shops, concentrating mainly on air conditioning installations and maintenance.
He also spent his time servicing air conditioning units in National Westminster Banks.
