If after reading the following information you feel that you may have a safety issue in your home, then I would be pleased to advise and quote on any action required.
If your property has a metal water service pipe which is used for earthing, this is no longer thought to be safe and has not been allowed since 1966, many buildings built before this date are still earthed in this way.
In most cases the metal pipe in your home is now connected to plastic water pipes in the street, this reduces the effectiveness of the pipe as your main earth.
If after reading the following information you feel that you may have a safety issue in your home, then I would be pleased to advise and quote on any action required.
This is a common cause of household fires, the problem is not necessarily overloading of the internal wiring of the house but the fact that the adaptor and/or plugs are slightly loose in their sockets, this can lead to arcing and subsequent fire.
The solution to this problem is simple, install enough sockets to cope with the load you require.
If after reading the following information you feel that you would like my assistance regarding fitting of energy saving measures, then I would be pleased to advise and quote on any action required.
Typical energy consumption and associated cost for common appliances in the home are shown below.
Prices are based upon EON "standard tariff" energy prices as at 01/10/2008 and energy consumption is for modern energy rated appliances.
Older non-energy rated appliances may use a lot more power.
Obviously upgrading your old appliances to modern energy rated ones will save you electricity in the long run.
Thanks to the government backed feed in tariff such a system will now pay back any investment within 8 years, leaving the remainder of the 25 years seeing you make enough profit to pay for all your energy needs.
The yield from the panels to be installed - just a small increase in the yield from the panel (even 0.5%) can make a huge difference in terms of money back over the 25 year feed in tariff scheme.
2. Check that the installer a member of the government approved schemes (both the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) and Renewable Energy Association (REA).
