Solar PV modules convert sunlight into electricity for use in the home or business and/or to export to the national grid.
Solar panels generate electricity by using daylight so it doesn't have to be a bright sunny day for it to work for you.
You can still generate electricity on dull overcast Winter days.
Just how much electricity you can generate is dependant on the size of your roof and to some extent your budget.
Typical domestic systems are around 2.2kW in size, and can provide around 1,833kWh* a year which is over 40% of the electricity used by a typical household.
Generally farms have large amounts of wasted space that can be put to good use and used to generate an income.
As farm buildings provide the perfect location for a roof mounted system and because of the large area these often provide, larger systems can be installed giving you larger returns and our solar systems can be fitted to all types of roofing material.
Even unproductive hillsides can be utilised for ground based free standing systems, there is usually space somewhere for a solar PV system.
Solar PV Has become a much more financially attractive technology in recent years with the introduction of Feed in Tariffs in the UK, which is similar to what has been in place in Europe for a number of years.
The FIT replaced government grant schemes so there is no longer financial assistance to have a system installed but you are paid for what is generated.
FITs are broken down into two separate areas which are the Generation Tariff and Export Tariff.
This Tariff is set with your electricity supplier who pays you a fixed amount for every unit of electricity you generate, whether you use it yourself or sell it back to the grid.
