We are delighted to announce that our Charlie McKenzie has recently been qualified as a 'Certified Passive House Designer' by the Passive House Institute and is trained in the fundamentals of Passive House design.
The Passive House Standard has defined goals for energy efficiency, comfort, air quality and quality assurance of buildings.
Designing a building to achieve the standard requires expertise and a meticulous approach to design.
As a Passive House Designer, Charlie can integrate the building science, services, architecture, structure, documentation validation and uses the information to assess the project using the Passive House Planning Package (PHPP) energy modelling tool alongside providing support to the other Designers and the Passive House Certifier to ensure the desired Passive House certification for the building is achieved.

HB have extensive experience in working in a collaborative environment using face to face coordination workshops for model review using Navisworks to give a Common Data Environment and Web Conferencing for desktop and model sharing.

The centre includes a play area for 2 year olds, a play area for 3 -5 year olds as well as a dining hall, a full production kitchen and staff & admin facilities.
The heating for the building was provided utilising an Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) which feeds a network of underfloor heating manifolds throughout the building.
A Sprinkler installation was designed, installed and commissioned to comply with BS5306 Part 2 as well as Authority's insurer's requirements.
The centre includes a play area for 2 year olds, a play area for 3 -5 year olds as well as a dining hall, a full production kitchen and staff & admin facilities.

Castlepark Primary School was a partial new build / major refurbishment with nursery providing circa 2000m of enhanced teaching space.
The project also includes an early years nursery.
Underfloor heating was provided to new build areas and the existing internal classroom areas were provided with upgraded energy efficient lighting and ventilation strategies.
The project received a BREEAM 'Very Good' rating and an EPC B+ Rating.
